Review: Hot Wheels Pro Stock Firebird

Under Hot Wheels Racing Series this year have this Firebird made based on the real Pro Stock Racing. If you wonder what is that blue thing on the hood, it is actually the carburetor head to the engine.

Some background on the Pro Stock Racing.

Pro Stock Drag Racing is a class of drag racing featuring 'Factory Hot-Rods'. The class can be known as "all motor," as the cars cannot use artificial induction such as turbocharging, supercharging, or nitrous oxide, and there are very strict rules governing the modifications allowed to the engines, and the types of bodies used.

This makes for some incredibly tight racing; the front runners in the class can reach speeds over 200 mph (320 km/h) in 6.6 seconds (approx). The qualifications rounds are separated by less than a tenth of a second across all competitors. In a particularly tight qualifying roster, the difference from #1 to the final #16 qualifier may be only .05 seconds.

Verdict: Though Pro Stock Racing is kind of unfamiliar to us, but many have actually bought it for its unique design.

I Like: I can feel the speed from its shape, and it has a full metal base.

I Dislike: The red tinted glass, although it try to match the body, but real Pro Stock cars doesn't have it.

What are interesting today?

Jusco Hot Wheels Batman pack for RM9.00 after 70% discount.

Hot Wheels Ferrari Pack of 5 for RM32.90 at Metrojaya and Robinson.

Matchbox Vintage Pack of 5 at Robinson.

You can skip Carrefour and Coldstorage.

Jusco MV Hot Wheels Promotion Free Cars

I can't imaging I actually have these in my collections, many collectors will just pass these, and this end up everywhere, every corners in the markets.

However these are given FOC during the Jusco Members' day buy 2 free 1 promotion, and the are only "cars" other than dragtors and helicopters.

Before I send it to my son for "stress test", I give them a 2nd chance for upgrade option. What I did were added some simple HWCM logos stickers and detailing on it. And the No.2 is my registered member number in the cummunity.

I would say the Qumbee turned up better and the 1933 Ford is acceptable after the upgrade package.

Without opened it, I will not realised the framing tampos on Qombee are nice and the Ford has the metallic paint. Maybe what people say is correct, "there are no lousy assortments but just not your cup of tea".

I need to learn how to appreciate each models because they are design for reasons. After this, I decided to keep for myself, sorry son will look something else for you. ☺YeoCP//

FR: Carrefour MV 09-02-25

Carrefour just did a mirror restock on Hot Wheels Basic and Colour Shifters Assortments. Not many found, it probably just 1 box each.

I still leave many behind, have a look then. ☺YeoCP//

P/S: It doesn't seen anyone have touch the stocks yet, it might have insider took the green card. Just my wild guess :)

Review: Tomica #17 Nissan Cube

Haven't been review Tomica for long, I do this for those did not notice the Cube is here. I know there are many Cube fans in Malaysia. I bought this something ago when it just arrived at Litt Tak Hobby Shop. (I think quite a while back)

The little car was released by Tomica last year December 20th. It is a brand new casting under 2008 1st release. Still remember it were some leak pictures in the Tomica Flickr group with many colour variant. (Believed is for colour testing)

I would say this is quite a cute little car in its design, although it is small in size, but it actually solid when you hold it in hand. The front is quite plain, but you can see the Nissan logo clearly.

The attraction of the car is actually at the back. The where the unique signature of the Cube design, continues curve window to the side. Hah, of course the "cube" emblem at the bottom.

Verdict: I'm not a of Nissan but I can't deny it is cute! Custom it to pink will be sweet :)
I Like: Adorable shape and design, solid and heavy.
I Dislike: Lag of details, no feature other than suspension, lastly colour - cute car should come in lovely colour.

FR: Jusco-MV-090224

Hot Wheels basic 2008 assortments for RM3.90 buy 2 free 1 in Jusco Day Mid Valley.

There are many good models in the assortments, you will able to pick some from those you passed last time.

The catch for the promotion is the free cars, you have to select from the counter with very very very lousy assortments, I bet you hardly pick one.

Anyway still cheap after all for RM2.60 each car. Have a look there, promotion end tomorrow. ☺YeoCP//

DIY: Try this

There is something fun introduced by our toys collector Cham2020, paper craft model.

I have it printed out and ready to fit it in office during my free time. I going to try it in different size to see which end up better. Due to it printed on normal A4 paper, it will be nice in smaller scale.

I will suggest you to try on your limit how small you can produce. Example make it in 3" which same scale to our 1/64 toy cars, I can imaging how cute is it.

Please let us know when you made it, and share with us your experience. Thanks Cham for the sharing.

DIY: Simple Enhancement with Nail Polish

This idea strike my head when I saw my daughter playing with the nail polish. It works for our nail should also works for our toy cars. Why not do some experiment to find out the answer.

Bought some nail polish from ladies department store and CD markers. The colours I bought are silver and golden-ish brown, markers looked for the one with red and orange colours.

After few rounds of painting, and patient waiting, here is the outcome. A enhanced version Civic Si with coloured head lights and carbon bonnet and spoiler.

Do you love it too? Should try yourself, it's simple. ☺YeoCP//

DIY: Blister Pack Removal

I'm trying out the new method the remove the Hot Wheels blister cover using nail polish removal, although the recommended method in the forum is using acetone.

Few dips of the nail polish removal liquid at the back of the card to let it absorb into the paper. The liquid not as strong as alcohol and it took awhile to dry.

The end result, failed, despite it removed a little. As conclusion, this is not the right method to do it. Will try again with acetone or alcohol from the DIY shop.

Will report again once I done it. ☺YeoCP//

Review: Matchbox Austin Mini Van

There are a lot more nice models in 2009 line-up, and the Minis made it in the 1st batch in the new wave with the new packaging.

The Mini Van is one of the hit items besides the Civic Type R, the classic is my all time favorite.

Surprise me the Mini doesn't fit with the normal standard wheels but the disc wheels. This is not the usual type we see on the most Matchbox.

Don't fooled by the "Benz" word, it is not Mercedes but dummy tampo for Electrical Specialist.

Verdict: Mini, all time favorite collectible model.
I Like: It is my favorite.
I Dislike: Missing detail for back lights (can add myself), and the meaningless Benz tampo.

My 1st Custom

The Tomica X-Trail was my very 1st custom where give me ideas on my later customization works.

I have tried all the new tricks before the end results on the actual customs. It suffered many rounds of do and undo, but luck it still in one piece.

The custom was appeared once last year, but I have added my autograph for it uniqueness.

The reason I use "was" is because it longer with me, I have passed to Elgee who also recognized as Custom King among us.

PS: In return, Elgee gave me his Kustom Ridez 2006 Honda Civic, 2005 Mustang GT, Volkswagen Golf GTi and Audi R8. Pictures can be found in his blog.
